Tapas in Salamanca

TAPAS

Once a week, our Spanish school teachers go to several bars in Salamanca with their students in order to taste the "pinchos" (appetizers) and wines from the best regions of Spain, such as Rioja, Ribera de Duero, Toro, etc.

A bar in Salamanca is a place where people chat, meet friends, have drinks, eat "tapas" and "pinchos".  Bars are usually the first choice that Spanish people take to spend the spare time with their friends.

Going to a 'tapas' bar is a tipically Spanish activity. Spaniards have the ancient custom consisting in going to bar to take a wine or beer and some 'pincho' or 'tapa'. Nowadays this traditios goes on even more popular as decades ago.

In the evening or around mid-morning, many people take a break in their studies or job to drink a coffee, a soft drink, a beer accompanied by a 'tapa', for example the delicious Spanish omelette. Bars are also considered as a meeting point where youngsters, old people and families chat around the table. People in Salamanca drink with no excess, alternating drinks with 'tapas'.

This is a very tasty way of knowing Spanish local customs. Once tried, be sure you will repeat!
